When XXX Doesn’t Mark the Spot: What censoring online porn means for queer youth (and everyone else), In These Times

December 29, 2013

I’m thrilled to announce that my piece, “When XXX Doesn’t Mark the Spot: What censoring online porn means for queer youth (and everyone else),” has just been published in In These Times.

Excerpts:

My Review of "The Battle over Marriage" Is Just Out in the Chicago Reader

My review of The Battle Over Marriage: Gay Rights Activism Through the Media, by Leigh Moscowitz is just out in the Chicago Reader.  You can read it here.

Previous: "Undocumented" and "Jacobinned" are both out on The North Star.

Meanwhile, if you'd like to support my work, please consider making a donation: Any amount is hugely helpful.  While I look really successful on paper, the truth is that freelance cheques are slow to come and I could really do with some extra help. Thanks!

It’s been a few weeks since I posted a new update here.  That’s not because I’ve haven’t been producing work but, ironically, because I’ve been so busy with writing, deadlines, and interviews that it’s been hard to keep up with my regular updates.

And so I give you this Omnibus edition, starting with some notices about where I’ll be presenting in the next few weeks (one in the flesh, the others via skype). Following those are updates on my writing, which include some of my favourites in the last few yearsa piece on shit, yes, shit, some really interesting author interviews and book reviews, some interviews in the press following the Illinois marriage decision, and some truly lovely praise for my writing which has left me speechless and emotional. Read more below.
